St Christopher's Church
The tradition of the parish is catholic and open, and our worship expresses the culture and experience of the people that come together, particularly in the use of music and ritual. Regular social events include English, Nigerian, Ghanaian, Caribbean, and Polish food. The church leadership reflects the variety in the congregation and wider neighbourhood, and seeks to welcome all, wherever they are on their journey. Times of Holy Communion services are as follows:
Morning and Evening Prayer are said Monday to Thursday at 9am and 5pm (Morning Prayer is at 7.45am on Tuesdays). Sung Mass is celebrated on Major Festivals on weekday evenings - please see the noticesheet by the church door or click for details, otherwise please contact the clergy as below. Dates for 2008: Sunday 5th October: Harvest Festival and Anniversary celebrations for St Cristopher's Mother's Union with lunch party and children's activities after Mass The mix of people in church on a Sunday morning reflects the diversity of the local population. There is a wide range of ages (from new-borns to people in their late eighties); there is a thriving Junior Church which retains the commitment of teenagers; and there are also opportunities for young people to be involved in music for the liturgy and serving. The Church Council has passed the Inclusive Church motion to work for the full representation of people in all aspects of church life, irrespective of their sex, race or sexual orientation.
